How We Use Automation
News Paper Joint uses software in two ways, and we want readers to know exactly how.
1. Data pages
Our sports, weather, gas, economy, markets, lottery, recall, Congress, disaster and airport pages are filled automatically from official public sources. Each page shows its source and the time of the last update. Software formats the numbers and writes a short plain-English summary of them; it does not add facts that are not in the source data.
2. Data Desk reports
Stories bylined NPJ Data Desk — such as game recaps, weekly gas and mortgage reports, inflation and jobs releases, recalls, earthquakes and lottery results — are generated from the same official data. They are factual summaries, not reporting or opinion. When one of our editors adds analysis, it appears in a clearly labelled "Editor's take" with the editor's name.
What we don't do
- We do not invent quotes, sources, people or events.
- We do not publish automated stories about topics where no official data exists.
- We do not present automated content under a human byline.
Errors
If you spot a problem in any automated page or report, email webezze@gmail.com. We fix it at the source and update the page.
